I live in northern Indiana. The part where, if I tell you the town name, you wont know it. However if I tell you "Notre Dame" you'll have a decent idea.

I think it's a rite of passage for everyone native to my area to accidentally go the wrong way when returning from Chicago. We'll see the signage, it won't make sense, and all of a sudden we're headed toward Detroit looking for somewhere to turn around. My mother and I did this IN Chicago once as well, heading south rather than north, ending up in a less than desirable neighborhood.

Thankfully, in both instances a u-turn took place and we ended up back on our way.

Life often needs those moments of directional confusion in order to get us to pull off, get our bearings and get back on track. When you realize you're going the wrong way, how foolish would it be to continue? The same rule of the road can apply to our business, personal or even religious endeavors.

I know many entrepreneurs that head out into the great wide wearing all the hats, clamoring for all the revenue streams and taking "it all" on themselves. I know I did it in the early days of my photography business. Eventually, the burnout sets in, and we're sitting there wondering where on earth we're headed.

I'm not sure if it's pride, a fear of the perception of failure or something else entirely that keeps us from wanting to make those u-turns. No matter the why, we do seem to hesitate.

If it's the perception of others, who cares? So what if I make that (legal?) u-turn and another driver scoffs. I'll never see them again, and they aren't going where I am. The same can be said for readjusting our focus. You're the one reaching your destination, no one else.

It's ok to pull off, take a break and change course. Just focus on your desitnation.

You'll get there.
